dollar bail brigade

about
Due to the NYC criminal justice system’s archaic bureaucracy, people are detained all the time in New York for just one dollar. Even if the accused person can afford it, they are not allowed to pay their own bail.
The Dollar Bail Brigade (DBB) is an organization of volunteers teaming up to pay these people's one dollar bails in their spare time. The DBB partners closely with The Bronx Freedom Fund and Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights to expand their network and support the broader fight to abolish money bail.
Follow Amanda Lawson, Founding Director of DBB, as she explains the organization, the movement, and the future she plans to help make better.
