Anel Carmona, a Mexico native living and working in NYC, wrote the original play “Captive Pilgrim” a modern adaptation of Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s “I Only Came to Use the Phone”.
We follow Anel during the performance week of a staged reading directed by Paul Edwards at The New Gallery in Bedstuy, Brooklyn with a full Hispanic cast.
We discuss the creation of this adaptation which tackles the many different cultures and lifestyles that live here in America.
These shared cultures and viewpoints in America are begging for voices like Anel’s to connect them.
